Former salon Saturday girl Danielle becomes hair apprentice
Teenager Danielle Fretwell has got a hair apprenticeship at the salon she first started helping out at as a 14-year-old Saturday girl.
Danielle, who is 17 and from Heanor, recently started her level 2 hairdressing course at Derby College and is now an apprentice at Effleurage in Langley Mill.
Although she likes a lot of things about her new job, Danielle particularly likes the social side. She enjoys talking to clients, and her ability to get on with people and put them at ease has impressed her employer, Marissa Hunt.
Danielle said: I go to college on day release every Monday work in the salon the rest of the week. It’s a good course and I put into practice what I’ve learned at college when I’m at work.
Marissa did her hairdressing training at Derby College and she now runs her own business, so I thought it would be the right place for me too.
I’m the third apprentice from Derby College to be taken on by Effleurage.
Danielle has the opportunity to learn the beauty side too, but at the moment she is happy to focus on hairdressing and is working towards becoming a fully qualified stylist with the salon.
