Derby College has launched a summer programme of fun seasonal courses aimed at adults and children.
The daytime class programme includes pottery for children and then adults, theatre skills for aged ten to 15 and then 16 and above.
Evening courses are then available in cycle maintenance and repairs, holiday Spanish and sewing.
Prices start from £12 for the short course and a new programme will launch in September with a wider range of Learning for Leisure courses at campuses in Derby and Ilkeston.
These will include hairdressing, barbering and beauty treatments; cake decorating, baking and Indian cookery; creative skills such as pottery, flower arranging and jewellery making; introduction to practical skills from bricklaying to plumbing; animal experiences with reptiles, skunks to porcupines; and the chance to learn more about counselling, psychology and even the history of pirates.
Derby College’s Rebecca Jones-Watson said: “The Learning for Leisure programme has been a huge success with great feedback from people who have enjoying learning a new skill and making new friends.
“We look forward to the summer programme and then launching an even wider range of short courses over the coming months that will help people take up a new hobby and enjoy learning in a relaxed environment and at their own pace.”
